I tried that "Is your refrigerator running" prank call when I was a kid, but it came out wrong. "I asked "Is your refrigerator turned on?" This was a much better question. They were unable to tell me what turns on a household appliance.
Recently I tried the prank, and was prepared when they answered no. "Well, how will you keep your food cold?" I said before I hung up.
