When Richard Thompson (the cartoonist behind the comic strip Cul De Sac) was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, his friend Chris Sparks launched the fundraising effort Team Cul De Sac. They asked cartoonists across the country to draw Richard's
characters. Hundreds of cartoonists responded. The artwork was compiled into a book available now, and
the original artwork is being auctioned to raise additional money to benefit Team Fox, the fundraising arm of the Michael J. Fox Foundation that is working to find a cure for Parkinson's disease.
The contributing cartoonists include Stephen Pastis (Pearls Before
Swine), Sergio Aragones (Mad), and even Bill
Watterson of Calvin and Hobbes. (Wait, really?) Yep.
Below is my own contribution. A charcoal portrait of the Cul De Sac characters Alice and Petey Otterloop.
